Gym rework hopes?

What do you hope will come out of the upcoming gym rework?  I already know I’ll be disappointed if it doesn’t remove spoofers and botters.

The more this game goes on, the more I really want to see AI-based gyms: Have gyms all controlled by Niantic-supplied AI defenders, as with the main series games. They could be all rock type, all dragon, mixed, whatever. Reward stardust and coins for defeating all the defenders in the gym, up to 100 coins per day. All teams could attack all gyms, and we wouldn’t have this spoofing/botting crap any longer. We also wouldn’t have team-dominated regions, which some people would dislike, but it doesn’t seem to be working very smoothly for legit team members now, anyway, so why not?  The gyms could be colored by whichever team defeats the gym the most, or something.  Have a leaderboard of sorts, that could even list trainer names who defeated it (also happens in the main games).

Agreed on everything.

My only hesitancy would be based on the Blissey and Gyarados I have in two gyms that having given me 10 coins per day each for 50+ and 20+ days respectively. Such a switch would remove them as cash cows.

That said, I understand that this hesitancy is based on a crutch, and that making people actually go to gyms to get results makes perfect sense.

The gym side has been between 1-3% of game time for me. A rework would affect me minimally other than my cash cows, but it could be a huge boon for those who love that aspect of the game. Who knows – I might even like it enough to spend more time at gyms.

Well, 10 coins per day for a month gives you 2 incubators for that month, so it’s not much of a crutch… but the stardust is always welcome.  It would be great if the gym rework allowed people like you (and everybody else) to actually enjoy gyms.  I don’t think there are that many people really enjoy them at the moment… but the general view is probably that gyms are more fun than grinding for pidgeys.

I would like to see a 24 hour lockdown for any faction that gets a gym to level 10 , that way they can prestige with low level pokemons and then then replace them with high level ones.

Also, a lockdown on any gym to level 3 with low level pokemons.

I would like to also place a decay rate on gyms.

The limit the trainer to 10 gyms, that is you can only be on 10 gyms.

Finally, limit the trainer to one device

What do you mean by “replace them with higher level ones” in the first part?  I understand the 24-hr lockdown part (although I don’t think it’s needed and would add to stagnation), but I don’t understand the rest of that first concept.

I think the gym decay thing is definitely going to happen.  It remains to be seen how difficult it will be to feed your defender a berry to maintain it, though.  If it’s easy, it won’t have much of an effect, except for removing trainers who have already stopped playing or don’t log in daily.  I doubt many of those people are still in gyms, but I could be wrong.

If Niantic keeps coin/dust rewards the way they are, I think a 15-gym limit would be better than 10.  A buffer is needed in areas where the gym turnover rate is high.  During the last event, I lost 6 high-level gyms per night a couple times.

What I have seen, they knock down the gym, then take ownership of the by putting 4 Magikarps on it and then prestige the gym up to level 10, leaving 6 empty pokemon slots. Finally, take an opposing faction account and with one battle knock the gym down to level 9. They then switch to their own faction and with two battles prestige the gym up back to level 10 and add a Blissey. The high level Blissey goes to top of gym. Now they repeat the process, take a opposing faction account, knock the bottom level out, re-prestige to level 10 and add another Blissey. Repeat, repeat, and repeat until they end up with a level 10 Blissey gym.

By this process they never fight anything stronger than a Magikarp, while the rest of us would have to use up considerable resources to knock out their gym. They can do the whole process within 15 minutes.

I hope that makes sense Dos?

This is also why a 24 hour faction lockdown would make sense, since it is very obvious of what is happening at those gyms, in normal game play, you just don’t have gyms repeatedly hitting level 10 in that short amount of time.

It’s amazing how creative some people can be. Shame they don’t channel that mental energy into something useful instead of being asshats.

If they could only use their asshat powers for good. Instead they have to go to the Dark Side, get all burned up by lava and have to speak through a voice box thingy.

The people who put those level 10 gyms said that they decided to play that way because we dominate our area and that was the only way to fight back. A statement that I found laughable, since up to that point we never held two gyms long enough to collect 20 pokecoins. Besides owning a level 3 gym is not by any means “domination” lol.

That’s pathetic. They are just too lazy to put in the legwork (literally and figuratively) to earn the success and would rather take the easy way out. Want to get better than those at the top? Do what they do, only better and/or more.
