IV anyone else regret…

Anyone else regret not taking a few minutes to understand what makes IV important / novel much earlier? I finally spent the 5-10 minutes yesterday to get into the nitty-gritty about it – only after getting 2/3 the way through level 28 – and I keep wondering what presumably mediocre goodies I transferred thinking only about CP and move set. I went through my collection last night and came up with a half – dozen 95s,but that’s it. Who knows what goodies I ground up for candy thinking they were not solid enough.

You have a point, especially if we are looking to fill out the Community GolDex and DiamonDex. Remember though, IVs only count for at most 10% of a mon’s effectiveness. I actually saw a recent Trainer Tips video where Nick said he almost never checked IVs anymore. It looks like he places much more priority on moveset.

Agreed. I was hoping to have something of my own to contribute to one dex or the other, but no dice, even if just lucky that I hadn’t transferred it yet because I though it was meh.

Understand. When we first started the special dexes, and its all Gerd’s fault, I was checking every mon I caught for IVs. It does keep it interesting though. I have not seen a 100%er in some time. And that is after having I think 8 of them.

IVs can help you regulate your stardust which is the number 1 thing I use them for. If I’m going to power up something, it is going to have top IV’S and top moveset. Although I do want a DiamonDex mon every time I evolve one, I am just as happy with STAB movesets for that mon. If it’s not a 100 IVer, I actually prefer it. For many mons, the STAB moveset is the best moveset, so it’s win win for me. For most mons, the highest ranked move is the one with a single charged attack. I prefer the double charged moves. For timing purposes, it ends up being the more resilient attacker. Also, I don’t focus on top defensive moves. It’s another way to go. Just not my way. I’m on too many other paths right now. Amd the thing is although they might take longer for an attacker to beat, they will be beat. So what’s the point. Attackers are directly useful to me so that’s where I keep my focus. Anyway, I’m anal retentive numbers guy and I will chase the rabbit. So niantic git me with the IV thing.:-)

Gerd, you need about 15-20 more things to divert your attention away from all this silly Pokémon go stuff. Try your hand at world peace or creating the first affordable quantum computer or harnessing fusion energy or figuring out if the light in the refrigerator really goes off when you close the door.

Gerd tried to go for world peace, but his plan was so thorough and infallible that the military machine threatened his loved ones. He’s been quiet on the topic since.

Funny. I’ve put off the quantum computer for now. But I have been considering building my own 8 bit computer. Love the basics.

Definitely have one of those. Thinking more along the lines of breadboard but dam pokemon pulls me away from other interest. So who knows?
