Rock event

I’m getting 5 items per spin, also yesterday there were all kinds of pokemons in my local park, but today is a different story. It’s kind of disappointing.

Swiped this beastie at memorial city mall a few ago. Happiness ensued, and it more than made up for another pineco hatch.

Ooooo, you managed to find a high IV one, congrats!  They don’t seem very common.  I had no luck back when the event started and they were supposedly flooding the map, but I did find 4 within an hour, all as I simply wandered through neighborhoods.  Plus an Aerodactyl (all the above with low IV), and lots of Geodudes, fossils.  I refuse to catch Slugma.  Just saying.  I’m also seeing what seems to be an unusual number of ground types like the Nidorans and Sandshrew, and even some very rare fighting types.  Anyone else?  Are those increased, too?

Nidorans are the same as before over here on the west side, maybe even less. Haven’t seen a shrew in a few weeks, though, and they were becoming more common.

Why is Slug even common now? It’s not a rock type – just fire.

Oh wait, just noticed – Cargos are part rock.

Nice grab Buddha! She will be beautiful when she grows up.

Thanks bud. I’m working for an accelerated growth cycle. 87 candies at the moment, hopefully another 40ish by the end of the weekend.

I just realized – dust is the pokemon equivalent to HGH. In this care, Larvitar Growth Hormone. And candy is just a steroid.

Wow, I’m speechless. I’m missing an amazing event, as I still have no Aero, and now the fact that Larvitars are everywhere!! Smh. Why China why!!! I get back on the 27th so I’ll miss everything. Very jelly of everyone right now.

Doh. Sorry bud. This event has been decent. Lots of Larvies, a geodude or omanyte on every corner, and extra loot for each spin. Make sure you tell your work that you can’t travel on the week before or after the anniversary of the game. I’m guessing a big event then, and you won’t want to miss itm

CDR, I feel for you. There are dactyls just piled up on the side of the road right now, it’s crazy! And the little Larvitars are hovering around the piles nibbling away at them. Interestingly, the IVs are running low. Buddha was very fortunate to find his high IV lady. I will watch HoustonPokeMap as an admittedly odd form of entertainment sometimes. So right now we are seeing all the Aerodactyls and Larvitars all over the map. I will filter for 90% or better and everything will be gone. Drop it down to 80% and generally continue to have a blank map. One would expect a 1/10, 2/10 ratio but it does not seem to be the case. Any thoughts?

I haven’t seen a Larvitar, not have hatched one, I might as well be in China, lol

I think this is my last China trip for the year so I hopefully I’ll be able to play all events moving forward.

Definitely going to try hard for a Mr. Mime while in Portugal in the fall. Last year I was in Denmark and only saw one but it ran after one berry and ball.

At least you get to go to cool places.  The Larvitar will wait for you.

Honestly where are you guys? I haven’t seen a single aerodactyl, however I’m finding slugmas worse than pidgeys and ratatas. Very sad :c

Yeah, Slugma is so common and so big, it’s probably blocking those Larvitars and Aeros from your view.  I’m now on my second wild-caught Aerodactyl now, both from this event.  They look so cool when you encounter them in the wild.  My three others were hatched.

Ghost – somewhat of an inverse bathtub curve, I you know your stats. Basically, the closer you get to the ends of the range, the options taper of very quickly. I’ve checked on the map, and 90% will be between 10%IV and 70%IV. It quickly fades after that, and anything greater than 95 is as likely as I am to stop eating this brie before my stomach hurts.

I confess to watching the map sometimes for 90+ dratini and larvitar. I don’t get out enough to be really have a robust batch, so I want me earned candy to go to something awesome. Yes, I’m a bastard. I know.

I haven’t ran into a Larvitar during this event yet. Would have love to build up my Larvitar candy even with quicker so I can get at least one Tyranitar before the event ends. 4x candy is great but I need a lot of candy and can’t walk that much so I can’t get enough candy by just walking alone.

I deduce that during events when they say more of a certain Pokemon it means two things. Either the Pokemon spawn more or more locations to find the Pokemon.Though sound the same, they are different.

When the Pokemon spawn more, you essentially encounter them almost everywhere you go. Examples of this were during the Halloween event; the Gen 1 starters event; most of the Water event, and the Grass event; most of the Adventure  event. The Halloween event we we bombared with Gastly and others. Gen 1 event, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle,  and their evolves family everywhere. Water event, Grass, and Adventure, for the most part we were bombarded with various Water, Grass, and Rock types. There were exceptions that I will be mention below.

When there are more locations to find them, these Pokemon were usually found in small and sporadic areas. With the event, there are more areas to find them. However, you still have to be in those more areas to find them. They can’t be found anywhere. . Examples of this were the Valentine’s event; some of the Water event; and some of the Adventure event. Valentine’s event featured Chansey and Porygon. These are normally found Downtown and Midtown. The event increase them to inside the Beltway. People outside (like me) were SOL.  For the Water event, the exception was Lapras. Lapras is normally found in Galveston. The event increase where they could be found, but not everywhere. You have to be in that area or you’ll be SOL too. For the Adventure event, the exceptions were Larvitar and Aerodactyl. These are rarely found, Larvitar 1-2 spawn every so often in different parts of town and Aerodactyl Downtown only. The event increase them, but again not everywhere. You have to be in the area or you’ll SOL.

I tracked down and caught an Aerodactyl nearest my house because like I said it was the last one I need for Gen1 Dex. It’s not the best, but I did it. I don’t have time to race around town at various spots to catch more. As far as Larvitar,  since I already have a couple and a Pupitar, I happily walk that one to build up the candy instead of racing around town.

Need to go downtown to catch an Aero is what I’m hearing then. Darn

The two Aerodactyl I encountered this event were not downtown, and very random locations.  One was at a water-tower pokestop in the suburbs, and one was on a path by a river, also in the suburbs.  I saw another on the sightings in a random suburban neighborhood but didn’t have the time to track it down.  They are definitely out there.  In fact, I think residential neighborhoods are better during this event than nests/parks/waterfronts.  Walk, drive, or bike around neighborhoods for a couple hours, and you will probably get lucky.

What Dos said.

What I am saying is for this event, there are more places to find Aero, but you have to  be in the area when they spawn in those areas. They won’t just spawn everywhere. If you go on 30 minutes errands run like me, you probably won’t encounter them.

Outside the event, Aero are usually found Downtown. I look at the map, they are usually down by Preston or Rusk, which is ironic for me, if I was lawyer, I would be around the area a lot because of many courtrooms in the area.

I’m over by the 99 tollway, and kuykehdanl area, have driven around various neighborhoods, and also ridden my bike over various of them as well for over 3 hours in the last 3 days. I think I’m probably just unlucky :/
