Tested the glitch and it worked.

This Snorlax is powered up half a level higher than he should be. Should be around a CP 3146 but because of the glitch, I was able to evolve him past level 35 and halfway into level 36, which I have not reached yet.

When you power up, the game will ask you if you’re sure you want to do it. If you put 2 fingers on the ok button, it will do 2 power ups. You can actually do 3 fingers for 3 power ups at once. I did 2 because 3 fingers can be tough to get all on the ok button. If you do it one powerup before your maxed out for your level, it will actually allow you to power up passed the level your on by one power up. I guess I could have tried to go 2 powerups passed my level by using 3 fingers, but everything I’ve seen showed 1 powerup level passed was the only possibility. You can actually powerup passed the max CP of a pokemon when you reach level 38, but you have to make sure you leave one powerup when you get to that level. Once you do your final powerup on level 38, the powerup button goes away. So yes, after level 38, no more worries about candies or stardust. Your done. Your mons will be maxed.

The game has always let you power up to trainer level + 1.5.  The glitch allows you to power up to trainer level + 2.0.  It’s seems to be a bug in the power up limit server side versus app side.  People are worried that exploiting the glitch could get you banned for appearing to have hacked the game, so use at your own risk. Sounds like there are enough people exploiting the glitch that it’s not a big concern, but the glitch has already been reported to Niantic by the guy who found it.

Agreed on all points except those worrying about being banned. That’s completely absurd. Why anyone would worry about that is beyond me. It’s in the game. When someone shows me in the rules agreement that we can’t do things in the game that take advantage of scenarios they have made a mistakes on in programming, I’ll flinch, and then go about living my life. Then again, maybe someone meant to put it in. No one could possibly know because Niantic never actually responds to anyone. I’ve actually known about the glitch for a while, but didn’t think about trying it until I was powering up this Snorlax. Just thought it could be cool info for those who weren’t aware of it.

I didn’t know anything about it and when/if I am ready to come off some stardust, I will give it a try.

The next update supposedly fixes this glitch, so if you’re going to try it, do it now!  Keep in mind that you still need enough candies and dust to make it all the way to two the desired power up.

I just executed the heretofore never accomplished, at least by me, Triple 1080, er, finger power up! Took this puppy from 2956 at the last iteration, to the magnificence you see before you! Thank you, Gerd King.

Yeah, had to sacrifice 9 of the lesser Snorlax for the greater good. Sitting on 24 still, though. You should feel the house shake during their aerobics class.
