The smart way to power up your Gyarados.:-)

Yeah. The Dragonite67 was my first one. So I went straight to powering it up. Of course, powering up back then was a great payoff because I wasn’t to a high enough level yet for the power up reward to be diminished like it is once you get to level 30. As it is, i’m too far along with him now to look back. All that said, I actually caught my second Dragonite in the wild the other night with like 50 IV’S but great moveset. It was only like CP 1000, but I’m thinking about powering it up anyway. Dragonites are such bad asses when fighting gyms, and it is so quick and easy to pick them quickly from the top of my combat power ranking list. It just seems like the right thing to do. Granted, the Dragonite I evolved that same night ended up being garbage for all the time put into him. And I’m going to end up powering him up too. His only path in life will be reaching the top of a gym. He’s useless otherwise. The good thing is once he goes up on a gym, I can keep one of the others that are on a gym now for fighting. With Dragonites, it’s a simple decision because their CP has the highest ceiling. Being on top of a gym so often makes a difference. I constantly see gyms that I have been on changed on the bottom levels. So you need to get as high up on the mountain as you can. Opportunity cost, you know. If your not having to find another gym to get on, you can focus your game elsewhere.

Ok. I did a write up on this earlier today that just disappeared when I hit reply. So let me try again. In continuing my report on the smart way to power up a mon, this happened. I have to say I was pretty excited and obviously very lucky. I haven’t seen many Eevees in the 90 IV level. And when I saw the CP, I couldn’t believe it. I do have a 93 IV Vaporean with Water Gun/Hydro Pump. And I have caught a few others in the 90’s but both times got Water Gun/Water Pulse Vaporeans. Blah! Not wasting stardust on that. But after all the hunting and all the Eevees, I finally catch my first 100 IV Eevee and get this beautiful beast at an amazingly high a level.

This is after Power Up. So close to 3000. I’ll just round up.

OMG, wow!  That’s definitely the highest Vaporeon I’ve seen.  Wouldn’t want to fight that one on one (oh, wait, they don’t have PvP in this game).  Congrats!!  Too bad you couldn’t get that last CP point.

On a side note, are you crazy?  Power up those WG/WP and stick them in gyms.  You’re wasting all that potential.

Like I said, not enough stardust to go around. After powering that one up, I started powering up my last evolved Dragonite. He is my 5th best mon as of right now, but will most likely be my best once I’m done. I am literally sitting on 96 stardust right now because of, and want to get him maxed out in order to put him on a gym. Like I said before, he’s got a bad offensive moveset. Anyway, then I can start working on at least one more Dragonite attacker. I have 2 that I use right now. The rest are in gyms. After that, I might be inclined to power up a Water Gun/ Aqua Tail. I typically only power up mons that annoy me when battling. And I’ll tell you I typically don’t even dodge water pulse. It just doesn’t inflict enough damage. And many times when I fight that moveset, I knock it out before it even uses more than one or two water pulse charged attack. That’s not every time, but even when it uses that charged attack a lot, it just doesnt hurt me enough to be bothered. Aqua Tail can sneak up on you though. Especially when your trying to use your own charged attack. Me no likey being attacked by Aqua Tail, Body Slam, Dragon Pulse, Dragon Claw, Ice Beam, etc., etc…… You name the double charged attack, and I’ll tell you it is not one I like to fight. I know I’ll win the battle, but it’s nice to see my mons last longer and save those those dam potions. In my immediate area, I feel like I’m fighting red off by myself, so potions can be like gold to me when it matters.
